The Horse Sense Blog compares the nonsense in today's news with good ol' fashioned horse sense

“…I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.… It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.” - Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775

"The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it." - George Orwell

Public Doesn’t Agree With Media About Romney’s 47% Comment

Here’s the Nonsense:  Mitt Romney has done irreparable damage to his campaign with the comment he made about voters who don’t pay income taxes

Here’s the Horse Sense:  What the media wish was a gaffe for Romney is turning out to be something with which Americans agree

As usual, the mainstream media is out of touch with what Americans think.  While they have tried their usual tricks of manipulating the details in the story about Mitt Romney’s 47% comment, their efforts to create outrage among voters are falling on deaf ears.  They are finding out that most people aren’t buying their attempt at trying to cover up for Obama's problems in foreign relations that are causing violent protests throughout the world.  In an informal, non-scientific poll taken by CNBC to determine people’s reaction to Romney’s statement it turns out that 76% of respondents agree with Mitt Romney and not the media.

CNBC Poll Results:

That’s not quite the response the media was hoping for.  After all, they see their job as getting President Obama reelected, not as being journalists.  I think that today’s media define the term “journalist” as anyone who will sell out their values, their country, and their freedom to support the Democrat Party.  They are ignorant of the fact that a free and unbiased press is more important to maintain a free society than support of any candidate or party. Their lack of conscience opens the door to great danger for America by fleeing their responsibilities as guardians of freedom through the free press.

The media’s efforts to place blame on Romney for simply stating truth and standing by it are their way of taking attention off of Barack Obama’s failures in foreign relations that have caused the protests and violence in other parts of the world.

In my new book, No Tomorrows:  How To Halt America’s Imminent Collapse And Return To The American Dream – And Why It Must Start With The 2012 Elections, I point out the core reasons why America is about to collapse and what the solutions are to fix them.  The lack of electing good leadership and the need for morality are two of the core problems we face.

President Obama has shown his lack of leadership by trying to get the world to like him.  His continual apologies for America and what we stand for are more than just an embarrassment to our nation, they are devastating for us and the rest of the world.  His and the media’s abandonment of moral principles are simply a reflection of what our entire society now embraces.  Both of these issues are core problems America must face to stop our nation from imminent collapse.

When our embassies were attacked and our citizens killed this past week the first thing our leadership had an obligation to do was to defend America and what we stand for.  America is the one, true shining beacon of freedom in the world.  No nation has ever granted the freedoms to its citizens that America has.  Built into our founding documents and, therefore, our laws are principles that guarantee rights granted to us only by God.  No other government has ever done that.  No other government has ever understood that, but our founding fathers did.  They understood that our rights come from God, which means that since no power is greater than God, then no power outside of God Himself can take those rights away.

Some would say that government is what grants those rights, but they miss the point.  If government can grant us rights, then it can take those rights away.  What those critics don’t see is that the founding fathers of our nation knew that the U. S. government would be the first to recognize that it was subservient to God and had to respect the rights He has granted mankind.

But when President Obama and his administration didn’t stand up for America’s right of freedom of expression and our other values and demand respect he was empowering those who attacked us.  His apologies for America gave support to those who attacked us and killed our citizens. Those embassies are sovereign American soil.  Attacking us there was no different than attacking the Pentagon and the World Trade Center on 9/11.  Not defending America when it happened to one of our embassies was no different than if we had been attacked in the middle of our country and not defended ourselves from the attack.

President Obama, however, just wants to be liked.  And like the fearful child who doesn’t know how to deal with bullies he cowers and thinks apologies will make everything alright.  The fact is that a nation, just like an individual, doesn’t need to be liked, it needs to be respected.

Then again, how could President Obama understand that when it is clear he doesn’t respect America?  He’s the one who continually has stepped on the Constitution, which is the basis for our entire legal system, and issued Executive Order after Executive Order without the constitutional authority to do so.  That is not only a lack of leadership, it’s a lack of morality.

We have ourselves to blame.  We have allowed our society to come to where we accept situation ethics for our value system.  We allow people to say that what’s okay for one person is not okay for another and vice versa.  We’ve abandoned the concept that when something is wrong it’s wrong for everyone.  We’ve abandoned the concept that you do things because they’re right, not because they are simply a benefit to you.  Unless we stop our moral decay by embracing such things as absolutes for right and wrong, we will have no hope for survival.

President Obama’s failures in foreign policy are just one more area where his presidency has failed.  Keeping the attention off of his record and vilifying his opponent is all the Democrats and the media can do to win this election.  It is important that Americans see beyond their smokescreen.  We must be vigilant and work hard to win changes not just in the presidential election, but also in the congressional elections.  If we lose this election our future is doomed.  We can no longer carry the debt our nation carries without total collapse of our economic system.  We can only do this if we are all involved and talking to others about it.

The advertising done by a campaign, the debates, even the political commentary made by those with an audience to listen is not enough. This election will only be won if each citizen is talking to people about it and discussing the importance of it.

Sure, it’s not easy to talk about this stuff and most people aren’t as versed in the issues as those of us who deal with it every day.  However, that’s one of the main reason I wrote No Tomorrows.  That book is not only a quick and easy read that’s a great way to get a handle on the issues and the importance of this election, it’s also written so it can be given to people who aren’t as familiar with politics so they can read it and understand what we are facing.  Check out to learn more about the book. You can even request a PDF sample of excerpts from the book before you buy.  This book will help you get educated and educate your friends so that we can take back America and restore the American dream.

Remember the words of our second president, John Adams.  He said, “A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.”
