The Horse Sense Blog compares the nonsense in today's news with good ol' fashioned horse sense

“…I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.… It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.” - Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775

"The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it." - George Orwell

Tea Party Conspiracy Exposed... Or Is It?

Here's the Nonsense: Finally someone has exposed it! The Tea Party is infiltrating the government, has taken over the Republican Party, and must be stopped.

Here's the Horse Sense: The Tea Party could only hope to have control of the Republican Party. Unfortunately they have little influence there. But we can all dream that they will infiltrate and take control of our government, for then America might have a chance to survive.

In a poorly thought out piece published by, former Clinton Administration official Robert Reich appears to believe that the Tea Party is infiltrating the U. S. government and has taken control fo the Republican Party. I'm not sure if he's supposed to be on meds he's not taking and is, therefore, delusional, or if he's just so far out there in his thought processes that he actually believes this stuff. Either way, he's wrong.

Reich starts by stating:
Imagine a plot to undermine the government of the United States, to destroy much of its capacity to do the public’s business, and to sow distrust among the population.

Imagine further that the plotters infiltrate Congress and state governments, reshape their districts to give them disproportionate influence in Washington, and use the media to spread big lies about the government.
A plot? We could only hope so, but there is no evidence that such a thing exists except in the mind of an old progressive man named Robert Reich. The idea that districts are being reshaped to give disproportionate influence in Washington is an amazing projection. Reich seems to forget that the Democrats have specialized in this for decades. Getting districts reshaped is a key way they have taken control of so much of the government. Usually claiming voter discrimination if the districts aren't reshaped, they have worked tirelessly and quite successfully to get district after district reshaped and put in their control. If the Tea Party-supported candidates who have been elected have gotten this to happen in a few areas, then it's probably a small shift back towards balance in our election processes.

The bottom line, though, is that the Tea Party not only does not control the Republican Party, they are hated by the establishment Republicans who control the GOP. Fools like House Speaker John Boehner have shown their hatred for the Tea Party and conservatives by punishing those who represent their constituents and stand on principle instead of getting in line with what the establishment in the GOP want.

If the Tea Party controlled the Republican Party we would not be in the trouble we are in as a nation.  They would be trying to fight to save America and stop the mindless antics that go on in Washington.

No Mr. Reich, you are wrong... but I really wish you were right.
