The Horse Sense Blog compares the nonsense in today's news with good ol' fashioned horse sense

“…I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.… It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.” - Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775

"The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it." - George Orwell

Million Muslim March, 2 Million Bikers to DC, Recall Elections - Where's America Headed?

Here's the Nonsense Many have given up on America, but we'll get through our troubles and be fine again real soon.  This stuff just ebbs and flows.

Here's the Horse Sense:  America is in serious trouble.  But some things are happening that could be the start of a change in America that could turn us in the right direction.

While Americans today, Sept. 11th, are remembering the loss of American lives in the terror attacks on 9/11/2001 and again last year, on 9/11/2012, some other events have happened in the past 2 days the results of which are sending an important message.

AMPAC (the American Muslim Political Action Committee) scheduled their Million Muslim March as a supposed commemoration of the attacks.  However, Christianity Today reported that the group said, "Muslim and non-Muslim alike were traumatized, but we as Muslims continue 12 years later to be victimized by being made the villains."  But the event was so poorly received by Americans that the name of the event was changed to the Million American March Against Fear.  However, America never forgot the original name and it continued to be known as the Million Muslim March.

The 2 Million Bikers to DC event was scheduled in response to and as a countermeasure to the Muslim event.  The biker event requested a permit for their event, but DC turned it down, even though the Muslim event had no problem attaining one.  However, the bikers decided to show up anyway knowing that it is not illegal to ride a motorcycle through the nation's capital. (Update:  It was reported that DC finally gave in and issued a permit for the bikers just before they entered the city.  Problem was that then no one knew where to go so they ended up riding around the city for the day.)

So, how'd it all turn out?  A definite message was sent and here are the results:

The Million Muslim March had a total attendance of 21.  Even though the liberal Huffington Post reported early this morning that there would probably only be hundreds of people attending, the fact is that only 21 people showed up for the actual event.  Yes, you read it right, only 21 people!

The bikers, on the other hand, are still being counted as of this writing, but reports are saying that as of 1:00PM one million had been counted.

Neither group may have hit their goal, but the message is loud and clear.  Based just on the 1:00PM count of bikers, 47,619 bikers showed up for each person who showed up at the Muslim event.  The message is that patriotism is alive and well in America and the average American is not going to give up who we are easily or without standing up.

That same message came through yesterday when Colorado, the formerly red and now turned blue state, recalled two state legislators for the first time in state history.  The hardline push by Democrats who have successfully taken over the both houses and the governor's office in the state has backfired and two of the legislators were recalled in a grassroots uprising and battle.  The recall effort was outspent by up to 20 to 1.  The message was loud and clear:  the citizens aren't going to take the medicine of the progressive elite.  In this case the turning point was new gun laws in Colorado that got a negative reaction from citizens of Republican, Democrat, and Independent persuasions.  Even NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg had poured money into the effort to save the legislators and it was unsuccessful.  As one report put it, a plumber who spray painted signs in his garage just beat a billionaire's efforts in a recall election.

The message is clear across America.  Americans are fed up.  It's time to take the message of the 2010 midterm elections and amplify it to hundreds of times the volume of 2010 and let the politicians know in the upcoming 2014 elections that we want America back.  They work for the people and not the other way around.

The audacity of politicians can no longer be allowed by the voters.  People like Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner who recently helped the White House craft their "attack Syria" message to try to win over Republicans need to be replaced.  Each and every politician, regardless of which party they are in, must be held accountable and replaced if they are not representing America's best interest and doing the will of the voters.

It's time for America to stand up.  The last two days are a good start.  Now, don't sit down, keep standing and start marching!
