The Horse Sense Blog compares the nonsense in today's news with good ol' fashioned horse sense

“…I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.… It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.” - Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775

If We Weren't Winning, They Wouldn't Be So Upset

Here's the Nonsense:  The Democrats, media, and even the establishment Republicans have pointed out that we conservatives are too extremist.  We need to back off and become more moderate or we will have no chance at survival.

Here's the Horse Sense:  When you're in a battle your opponent fights hardest when they know you are winning.  The Democrats, media, and establishment Republicans are fighting so hard because they know that they are in trouble.  Now is not the time to back down.

It's really easy to think the conservative movement has no chance to succeed. I often find myself thinking of how we're up against a monolithic force that is determined to crush us.  The establishment GOP has put the destruction of the conservative movement as their top priority, even above beating the Democrats.  But there's an old adage that when you're over the target you get the most flack.  And right now the conservatives are getting more flack than they ever have.  That means we're on target.  That means that the Democrats and establishment Republicans are feeling cornered and scared.  They know the American people support the values of the conservative movement more than they support the garbage that has gone on in Washington.  They realize they are in trouble and now they're fighting for their lives.  If we weren't winning, they wouldn't be so upset.

Remember that in the American Revolution only about 1/3 of Americans supported the revolutionaries.  The rest of the country was split between supporters of Britain and those who didn't care or take sides.  Yet as the revolutionaries, our Founding Fathers, fought on they slowly made progress and eventually won the war for our independence.

The biggest danger we have right now is pulling back or giving up.  The fight is going to get harder than ever now that they realize they are in trouble.  But we need to hold on tight and fight harder than ever.  The harder they fight the more we need to know we can win.  It's important not to give up when your opponent is on the ropes.

Sure, victory is still a long way off, but we are at a turning point in the battle.  The same was true when General George Washington faced the turning point of the Revolution at the battle of Saratoga.  Up to that point the Americans were struggling to survive.  But during September and October of 1777 two battles that made up the battle of Saratoga were the  crucial victory for the Patriots and is considered the turning point of the war. It was the impetus for France to enter the war against Britain, which reinvigorated Washington’s Continental Army and provided much needed supplies and support.  So significant was the battle that it is considered to be one of the 15 most decisive battles in world history.

Today the battle for America is just as crucial.  We are about to see our nation fall over the precipice that will send us into, as Ronald Reagan once warned, a millennia of darkness.  But we could make this a turning point if we make this our battle of Saratoga.

Not just Democrats, but establishment Republicans are reeling at the impact of conservative individuals and groups like the Tea Party and FreedomWorks.  Republicans like John McCain complain about the problem he faces with conservatives.  Karl Rove and his group are working diligently to defeat any and all conservatives who will run for office in the 2014 mid-term elections.  From Republican leadership in Congress to establishment Republicans around the country, they are working hard against us because they see conservatives as a threat.  They've even taken to using the term "conservative" when referring to themselves so that they can refer to us real conservatives as extremists.  They use this to vilify all of us American patriots who want to return our country to the constitutional republic that we were founded to be.

We might get disenchanted at times when we see the opposition.  But remember, that opposition is there only because conservatives are being effective.  If we succeed, they lose power and they will fight with everything they have to maintain their power and control.

Now is not the time to be timid.  It is not the time to back away.  It is time to stand and push forward.  Most American citizens agree with our values.  We must work to get all involved to take back our country and save it from disintegration.

Hillary: Another Fraud Perpetrated On America

Here's the Nonsense:  Hillary Clinton is a role model for Americans and deserves more than anyone the American Patriot Award she is about to receive.

Here's the Horse Sense:  Hillary is about as worthy to receive an award for a patriot as Obama was to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. She is nothing short of a fraud.

There is the common view among the Democrats, media (I know, that's the same as the Democrats), many establishment Republicans, and pundits that Hillary Clinton will not only be the presidential candidate for the Democrats in 2016, but is owed the office because she has earned it.  They believe her credentials are second-to-none and that no one is worthy of the office except her.  While I'm not so sure she will be the nominee, let alone the winner of the presidency, the powers that be in Washington are preparing her for a run by seeing to it that she wins every award they can come up with to bolster her credibility.  The latest is the National Defense University Foundation's American Patriot Award, which she will receive shortly.  Of all the people who could be awarded such an honor, to give it to a fraud such as Hillary is offensive to everything for which America stands.

According to the Washington Examinerthe foundation's award ceremony co-chairs are Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State under Bill Clinton; former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, former Clinton White House chief of staff; Vernon Jordan, who attempted to cover up the Monica Lewinsky scandal by getting the then-White House intern a job; Jon Huntsman, former Republican presidential candidate; and Colin Powell, former Secretary of State under George W. Bush.  Wow, nothing but liberal Democrats as co-chairs!  Okay, Jon Huntsman and Colin Powell claim to be Republican, but are basically Democrats masquerading as Republicans.  Still, you couldn't have a much bigger cheering section for the Clinton family.

Aside from the selection of a group that make this an obvious Hillary love-fest, what is really galling is the thought that anyone could consider her a patriot.  Her record is anything but successful, let alone one that would characterize someone who has stood strong for America.

While my friend Tami Jackson over at has taken on the task of detailing the list of mysterious deaths associated with Hillary, I am not digging into that questionable area of her past.  Rather, I'm simply going to show things that would place into question Hillary's qualifications for an award with a title including the term "patriot."

Investors Business Daily wrote:

The one memorable event of her tenure [as Secretary of State] was the inexcusable murder by al-Qaida of our Libyan ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi.
What else is her tenure known for?

• The ongoing return of the bloodthirsty Taliban to power in Afghanistan with direct State Department diplomatic engagement.
• Hillary's flying to Cairo for a photo op with Muslim Brotherhood stooge Mohamed Morsi last year to help him consolidate power as Egyptian president; this year he was overthrown after a popular uprising.
• Four years of State Department inaction as Islamofascist Iran works toward building a nuclear weapon.
Brookings Institution foreign policy analyst Michael O'Hanlon concedes: "Even an admirer, such as myself, must acknowledge that few big problems were solved on her watch, few victories achieved."

About Hillary, the Washington Times commented:   "She had no experience as a diplomat, but her boss wanted her nowhere near domestic policy. She traveled to over 100 countries, but there were no notable achievements. George Mitchell brought peace to Northern Ireland. There is not a single hot spot anywhere in the world that Clinton has successfully cooled down. While nobody before her solved those problems either, that is just a way of saying she is no worse. That makes her average, not exceptional. Many hot spots from Iran to Syria to North Africa to North Korea have gotten much worse during her tenure. This is not all her fault, but neither is she entirely blameless, and 'it’s not my fault' is hardly an inspiring battle cry."

But maybe one of the best descriptions of Hillary's career comes from a column written by Diana West at Townhall.  In it she refers to Hillary as a "congenital liar" and proceeds to give examples to support her use of the term.  She points out an area of concern few people ever hear of when she writes:

"The fact is, Hillary Clinton has worked assiduously with the Islamic bloc nations, known as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to promote Islamically correct speech codes through the so-called Istanbul Process. The goal of this process -- and the goal of transnational Islam -- is to implement Shariah speech codes via U.N. Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18, which seeks to criminalize 'defamation' -- free speech -- about Islam. In leading this drive against free speech, Hillary Clinton is actually leading a drive against the First Amendment."
And Ms. West raises serious concern as she points out:
"Another aspect of this same foreign policy Clinton has spearheaded is the launch of the Global Counterterrorism Forum. The forum's roster of 29 nations plus the European Union is stunning for its exclusion of Israel, a leading counterterrorism force as much as it is a leading terrorism victim. But not so, according to Islamic definitions. Knowingly or not, as a leader of this forum, one-third of whose members come from the Islamic bloc, Clinton has accepted the Arab League and OIC definitions of terrorism, which both deny the existence of Israeli victims (sometimes U.S. soldiers) and legitimize the terrorism of Hamas, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, and Hezbollah.
"How could this be? What influences have led Clinton to formulate or follow such policies? We don't know, although it is hard not to wonder about the input of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin, a young woman with well-established familial and personal ties to Muslim Brotherhood figures and front groups (including a 'charity' linked to al-Qaida and a group banned in Israel for ties to Hamas). Indeed, what may be most astounding and mysterious about Clinton's whole public tenure is how Abedin ever received the security clearance necessary to work so closely with the secretary of state."
These are not the actions of a patriot.  These are the actions of a progressive whose entire life has been spent working towards the same goal as Barack Obama and the other progressives.  That is, they want to tear down America and replace it with their politically correct idea of what is appropriate.  That boils down to nothing less than a socialist system of the designs of Karl Marx.
Hillary is just another example of the progressives who control the Democrats and establishment Republicans.  A progressive who, as I pointed out in my book, No Tomorrows, is out to continue the radical transformation of America.
It's time to take back America.  No more idle time.  No more focusing on our own entertainment.  This is serious business and the future of our children and grandchildren is at stake.
The 2014 elections are right around the corner.  It's time to turn the House and Senate back to the control of the citizens. It doesn't matter what the president's plans are for America if Congress is controlled by the American public.  For then Congress would be holding the Executive branch accountable and stop the disintegration of our nation.
Remember Ronald Reagan's clarion call to America in his Time for Choosing speech:
"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.  We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness."

Why Man's Plan Won't Work

Here's the Nonsense:  We can define common values for the world and move into the future with great hope.
Here's the Horse Sense:  Everything man comes up with ultimately fails.  Not only is the idea of common values short-sighted, it's foolish.  That's not how we assure ourselves of a great future.
Poland's Lech Walesa is calling for the creation of a secular Ten Commandments to be used to build the world of tomorrow.  I've got news for him.  It won't work.  It can't work.  Man has tried over and over again to create everything from organizations to guidelines that will bring us to a new and better future and they never work.  Whether they are international or domestic efforts, they always fail.  In the U. S. Barack Obama is trying to fundamentally change our nation and, while his planned transformation may succeed, what the U. S. would be transformed in to would fail.  But Barack Obama, like so many think, they have answers when all they have are tired old ideas that fail miserably in the end, leaving in their wake destruction and death.  No matter how noble the idea, they always fail.
Walesa is known for his leadership of the trade union in Poland that successfully negotiated a peaceful end to communism there.   Quite a good and noble feat.  He won the Nobel Peace Prize for it (I know, I know.  So did Barack Obama, which says more about the lack of common sense of the Nobel committee than it does about anything else).  But even with those credentials Walesa, as is typical of world leaders, is still missing something.  Let's take a look at what his proposal boils down to and why it would fail.
As reported by, Walesa opened a 3 day conference in Warsaw by saying, "We need to agree on common values for all religions as soon as possible, a kind of secular Ten Commandments on which we will build the world of tomorrow."  Just that short statement shows the misunderstanding he has of values.
You can't make an agreement about values.  Values exist and you either embrace them or reject them.  It's not about coming up with agreeable values.  Look at the Ten Commandments and see if you notice what I'm going to explain:
1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
So, the first 4 commandments deal with man's relationship to God.  All 10 of them deal with accountability to God.  None of them mean a thing if God isn't involved.  You could remove the first 4 and replace them with something else, but the last 6 are worthless without the first.  Why?  Because if God isn't involved, there's no accountability.
We must understand that if there is not an ultimate accountability beyond our human selves, then there really is no accountability.  If I don't understand that one day I will be accountable for my life down to the smallest detail, then there is no reason for me to care how I live.  If I'm not accountable, then there's no reason to embrace a moral life.  Rather, I might as well do as I please because I'll never have to pay a price for whatever I do.
That's the problem with Walesa's call for a secular Ten Commandments.  It can't work.  It can't be an agreement among men because there is no one to hold them accountable.  Our values must come from something higher and bigger than us.  That's what the real Ten Commandments are.  They are a gift from God, the creator of the universe, to us to help us remember that we will be accountable one day.  They are foundation stones of Judeo-Christian values.  And it's those values that influenced both directly and indirectly the founders of the United States and the laws upon which our nation was founded.  They're the basis for America's greatness in the world.
We often hear people challenge the greatness of America.  And they go berserk when credit for the claimed greatness has anything to do with religion.  But whether they accept the facts or not, truth is truth.  And the truth is that no nation has done as much good, freed as many people, and prospered more of humanity throughout all of history than the United States of America.  I'd venture to say that the U. S. has probably done more good than the rest of the world combined throughout history.
America's greatness is declining under the leadership of the people we have in Washington these days.  America's greatness can be revived, but only if American citizens will, in their personal lives, embrace the values upon which we were founded.  It takes more than lip service.  It takes sincere effort and rejection of anything less than those values.

A Message Most Talk Radio Hosts Won't Want To Hear

Here's the Nonsense:  Talk radio shows are a good place to learn about issues, vent frustration, and share your outrage about current events with other like-minded individuals.

Here's the Horse Sense:  Talk radio shows serve an important role in our society.  But show hosts are missing the mark and could do more if they really want to see America saved from disintegration.

Most people who want to find truth in the news end up looking further than television.  Some read various internet news sties, some listen to talk radio, and many of us do a lot of all of these.  But as a pundit myself I have found an interesting phenomenon in talk radio around the country.  Over the past few years I've found myself being interviewed as a guest on hundreds of shows ranging in audience size from local to regional, to national.  Of all those shows, only a few truly are providing what is needed by their audiences.  Most miss the most important part of their jobs and, as a result, the listeners lose.

While the left accuses talk radio of just being entertainment, the fact is that it is a formidable force to get information to the public.  Many, myself included, have found that they can get more accurate news from talk radio than they can from anything on television.  And along with that news they can get level-headed commentary and discussion, not just hard left bias and name calling that is found in the mainstream media.  But to discredit the impact of talk radio the left has attacked it as just being a form of entertainment.

Sadly, the public often buys into that narrative even though many of those buying that story look to the likes of Stephen Colbert for their news.  Even though Stephen Colbert is a comedian who simply spoofs news stories, a lot of Americans take what he puts on the air as fact.  Even shows like Saturday Night Live are accepted as speaking truth when they perform their skits with false claims made to be a joke, but taken as accurate information.  Who remembers that it was Saturday Night Live's Tina Fey who, while pretending to be Sarah Palin, made the claim she could see Russia from her home?  Yet even the mainstream news media treat that as though Palin actually said it.  What Palin actually said was, "They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."

That is a true statement.  On Alaska's Little Diomede island you can see the Russian Big Diomede island.  The two are separated by 2 ½ miles of ocean and are across the International Date Line from each other.  But in an effort to discredit her the media has done little to back up the truth, they allow the joke told on SNL to be taken as truth and be credited to Palin.  Using false "facts" like this, the media undermine the truth to the public and demonize great patriots and leaders like Sarah Palin.  It takes constant vigilance and critical thinking to see through and counteract this kind of stuff.
Many talk radio hosts did a pretty good job helping their listeners see through the lies on that one.  And they serve the purpose of getting news out to people who never hear the truth as compared to the lies reported by the mainstream media.  But is that enough?  Is that doing enough to stop the fall of America as we watch our nation crumble and start to be swept towards the dustbin of history?  I don't think so.
I don't think it's enough for talk radio hosts to just report on stories that most people would otherwise not hear.  I don't think it's enough for talk radio hosts to just get all fired up and rant on and on about some problem.  Getting people upset isn't enough.  America is in trouble and, just like rallies and other such events, a rant only goes so far.  At this time in our history it's not far enough.
I'm laying a heavy burden on talk show hosts here, but they have been put in a very unique position for our time in history.  Talk radio reaches millions of Americans every day, especially local and regional shows.  Sure, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Levin, and a few others have a national reach, but in many ways they do not have the impact the local or regional host has.  The national hosts really do represent the alternate news source for Americans.  But the local and regional hosts have a different relationship with their audiences.  Their audiences have a more intimate relationship with those hosts.  Those hosts are in a unique place to impact the future of our country.
I believe that the local and regional hosts have an obligation to educate their audiences and to lead them in solutions.  At a time like this, when even Fox News can no longer be seen as a consistently solid source of news, talk radio has both an opportunity and an obligation to make sure Americans hear the truth. But in addition to truth in news stories, they also can help their audiences see what they, in their personal lives in their local communities, can do to make a difference on the direction in which our country is headed.
Instead of just ranting on and on about stories in the news, they can offer solutions.  A good example happened recently when I was on a show and the hosts were all wired up about a story in the news.  This team is a man and woman who do a very good job of interacting with their audience.  I've been on the show many times and the relationship between them and their audience is so good that they often recognize callers by the sound of their voices.  That day a story had come out that had them all upset.  They were ranting about it and as callers would call in they'd rant along with them.
I listened for about 30 minutes before I was due to go on-air with them that day.  During that half hour another guest was on and they got him talking about this incident.  The guest was also upset about it and they all ranted and raved about how wrong it was.  Then it was my turn to go on.  As we talked they brought up the same issue and wanted my opinion.  I responded that I agreed with them and then asked them what they were doing to find a solution.  That really threw them.  I told them that while I agreed with them it seemed to me that if all we want to do is get upset and rile people up, then we're doing just fine.  But if we want to make a change in our nation, then we need to find concrete solutions and talk to our audiences about what they can do personally.  It's not just about "taking a stand" when you're put in a corner on these issues.  It's about what people can do to make a change.  Suggestions, depending on the issue, can range from recommending actual actions that people can take politically to continually reminding people that we need to pray for success and for the people on the other side who are so misled and warped in their thinking on issues.  Well, it didn't go over too well.  They gave it quick acknowledgement and then went back to their rant.
I've been on their show numerous times since and nothing changes.  They simply get everyone all worked up over stories but never offer solutions or any effort at finding solutions.  If a host doesn't have a solution they could even open their phone lines to callers with ideas about what could be done.  Make it an on-air brainstorming session.  No one has a corner on good ideas.  We can all learn from one another.
I've been privileged to be on shows with some hosts who are trying to do it right. Here's a couple of great examples:
Bill Post at KYKN radio in Salem, Oregon has a great show dealing with everything from local to regional and national issues.  Bill gets his listeners involved and when things need to happen in Oregon, you can bet Bill and his listeners are right there in the middle of it all.
Dave Bowman at KFIV in Modesto, California has another great show.  Dave has taken one day a week to talk about the U. S. Constitution.  He and his audience have an ongoing dialogue about our nation's founding and what our founding documents really mean.
Those are two great examples of hosts who do more than what most do.
We don't change things without taking action.  But most people are not good at coming up with ideas to solve problems.  Most people are followers, not leaders.  Most people, if you lay out a solution, are very good at following steps laid out for them.  Talk show hosts are in a unique position of influence and leadership.  They can get things done because they have a platform that few people have.
We regularly hear stories of all kinds where we can make a difference, but we don't.  We might get mad.  We might tell lots of people what we think.  We might even write a letter.  But we often miss opportunities to make a difference.
When the Obama administration told Catholic Priests serving our Armed Forces that they could not perform their priestly duties during the government shutdown, what did we do?  Little to nothing other than go into a tirade is the answer.  But if talk show hosts had told their listeners, regardless of their religion, that this was an affront to all religious freedom and then sought solutions, they could have had major impact far beyond anything that was done.  The same could have been done with the closing of the memorials and national parks during the shutdown.  There are many issues that come up regularly where we could do things to make a difference.
Sure, there are people who already will take action, but to stop the mess in our country it's up to us to speak out loudly and often.  If every time Washington faced an issue they were pushed hard by the public, they would get so tired of it that they would start to respond.  And as we do it leaders will emerge and we will find new people we can support to run for office to replace the politicians who have sold us out.
Too many talk radio hosts are just in the business of getting a rise out of people about some current issue.  That's not enough, not if we really want our country back.
I may not be invited back on many shows after this post, but it's about time someone said these things.  It we all stand up together, it's much harder to knock us down.  If we all stand up together it's hard to ignore us.  But there need to be leaders helping people see when it's time to stand and how to do it.  Talk radio show hosts are in a unique position to lead and I challenge them to do so.

Hey Conservatives! Let's Take A Cue From The Left And Not Let This Crisis Go To Waste

Here's the Nonsense:  The GOP lost yesterday in the government shutdown and debt ceiling debate. But they fought the good fight and we'll have to try harder next time.

Here's the Horse Sense:  The GOP betrayed the American voters yesterday.  They have sold themselves out and it's time for us to take advantage of their mistake and take back America.

Yesterday's loss by the GOP on the debt ceiling and government shutdown isn't just another battle lost.  It's representative of what the GOP has become under the control of the establishment in the party.  They sell out, give away the store, and then end up trying to act like it's some kind of victory.  John Boehner even had the nerve to say "We fought the good fight" and act like it was a noble effort when they really did very little.  Then he was rewarded for the statement by applause from House Republicans.  That's nonsense.  It's a loss and should not be tolerated.  It's time for the voters to take back America!

In the past couple of weeks we've seen the few American patriots in our Congress stand up for America by trying to represent the will of the people.  When Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and their conservative colleagues stood up and demanded that settling the impasse about the government shutdown and, ultimately, the debt ceiling, had to include defunding of Obamacare, they were acting on input from the voters.  As I stated in a recent post, polls showed that anywhere from 52% to 70% of voters wanted Obamacare defunded. It was forced upon us by slick moves and a party-line vote that did not represent what Americans wanted.  Then, under what is still a cloud of mystery, the Supreme Court Chief Justice changed the legislation to make it legal and forced it to stand as law, which now will enslave America to a future of utter ruin.

But if Obamacare wasn't enough, the raising of the debt ceiling under the false claims of the administration who threatened America would default on its debt obligations, is yet another reason we are not being represented.  The lack of concern for America's future is astounding.  Being led by a president who openly admitted he doesn't understand math beyond a 7th grade level, the Democrats and establishment Republicans follow like lemmings off the cliff.

Enough is enough!  Freedoms are not just being threatened, they're being lost.  America is being stolen from its citizens.  Our government is no longer of the people, by the people, and for the people.  It's time to take it back to where it was designed to be.  2014 is just around the corner and it's a chance for us to make a HUGE impact through the elections.  This upcoming election could make the successful 2010 elections pale in comparison.  Taking back Congress could result in our check and balance system of government to be restored to working order.

If you want to know what you can do, then join us for the Take Back America Cruise this winter in Hawaii.  Join us as we lead seminars to show you how YOU can make a difference.  Oh, and don't worry about spending too much time in seminars, we'll go to all the major islands, have lots of fun, and make new friends and allies in our fight to TAKE BACK AMERICA!  Go to for more information.

For Those Who Think Obama's In Over His Head, Think Again

Here's the Nonsense:  President Obama hasn't handled many things well because he just wasn't qualified for the job of president.  It's not that he isn't trying, he's just in over his head.

Here's the Horse Sense:  President Obama knows exactly what he's doing.  What seems like poor management to some is actually him just following the plan he's been assigned to follow.

Over the past 5 years that President Obama has occupied the presidency there have been many who have watched how things are going in our country that conclude the president is in over his head.  Some feel he just isn't equipped to do the job.  His lack of experience, sky-high ego, and unwillingness to accept criticism, advice, or guidance have caused many to feel he's just not capable of handling the job.  I don't agree.  If you think Obama's not able to handle the job, then you've missed who he is and what he is doing.  And here's another example that proves it's not about his ability.

Obama is working on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) that would drastically impact our jobs, businesses, and economy… and not for the better.  Now before anyone quickly runs off to blame this whole idea on Obama, let me state that the negotiations began with George W. Bush and Obama is continuing them.  I have said many times that Bush's economic policies were not good for this nation and this, once again, goes to prove it.  But Obama, instead of stopping it has continued it and is nearing completion.  It is expected that he'll try to railroad it through Congress by year-end at the latest.

So, what is the TPP?  According to the New York Times, the TPP is called a free trade agreement, but it is far more than a trade agreement.  Among the things it includes are subjection of U.S. to jurisdiction of foreign tribunals controlled by the United Nations and also the World Bank.  Even our Supreme Court could not override them.

This is another step towards a one-world economy.  Even U.S. Trade Representative Mike Froman has said TPP is about “integrating our economies.”

Of course we'll be told it's to make our economy better, but experience shows us these things do not do that.  An example of one of the problems in it is that the TPP would ban "buy American" policies that make sure important military equipment is made in the United States.  President Obama has already shown the kind of trade deals he makes.  His agreement with South Korea in March of last year, according to, has already caused:

  • A 10 percent decline of U.S. exports to Korea
  • The U.S. trade deficit with Korea has climbed 37 percent
  • U.S. auto industry has been crippled
  • Loss of U.S. control where international trade, banking and finance is concerned
  • A projected 159,000 jobs will be lost

The TPP is bad for America.  But that won't stop Obama.  The president has a slick way to get the TPP approved.

President Obama is again seeking to get around the Constitution and we have no reason to believe that Congress will stand in his way.  After all, they haven't stopped him when he's ignored the Constitution in the past.  We've seen him do such things as make unconstitutional recess appointments, block and stall on scandals like Benghazi, the NSA, Fast and Furious, and the scandals at the IRS all showing his disregard for the check and balance system of our 3 branches of government.  This time he wants Congress to give him Fast Track Trade Promotion Authority, thereby ignoring the constitutional requirement that foreign trade deals must be approved by Congress.  While they'd still have a yes or no vote on any deal the president may make with foreign nations, they would have no power or input over the actual agreements the president would make.

What's Fast Track Trade Promotion Authority have to do with the TPP?  President Obama wants it so he can finish the TPP.  It would give him authority to move ahead with TPP without Congressional oversight or intervention.  This will do nothing but damage our economy, businesses, and jobs.

With the goal of integrating our economy with others in the world, and giving power to the World Bank and United Nations over our laws that even surpasses the power of our Supreme Court, this would do far more damage than other trade agreements have in the past.  Even last year's Korean agreement will look mild in comparison to this one, and look at the damage that one has already done!

These are not the actions of someone who is in over their head.  These are the actions of someone with a plan to fundamentally transform our nation.

When people say that Obama is following a plan to destroy America as we know it, people scoff and brush it off as just a conspiracy theory from a radical thinker.  But now that we've seen event after event occur under this president that show he consistently is pushing the country a certain direction, then we have to take notice that something is amiss.  That something is more than just being in over your head.   That is evidence that he is following a plan to fundamentally transform America, and in this case it's about tearing down our capitalist system by overburdening it.  Then he and the progressives can replace it with their progressive socialist system.  If that happens, you can bet it will be a system that Karl Marx would be applauding if he were still alive.

Obama Gives Republicans Chance To Go Back To Hard Line

Here's the Nonsense Obama's rejection of the Republican leadership's offer to give in to virtually everything he wants means that Republicans are now in a corner and must give in to even more before the U. S. defaults on it's debt because of the debt ceiling deadline this week.

Here's the Horse Sense:  By rejecting the Republicans offer the president has just given the Republicans a chance to come back with tougher terms, whether he likes it or not. Default is not the threat the left wants people to believe. And now it's time for voters to take action to stop Boehner and company from giving away even more.

In spite of the Republican leadership trying to give away everything, thankfully President Obama is so stubborn that he rejected their offer thereby potentially saving the Republicans from once again undermining themselves.  The offer the Republicans made to the president was a total sell-out, but still not a big enough sell-out for the president to accept it.  While there is little hope the Republicans will wake up, take a stand and move back to a hard line position that would benefit America (the position the conservatives in the party have stood for all along) this does give Americans one last chance to put extreme pressure on the Republicans to do the right thing.

Politico reported Saturday morning that John Boehner reported to House Republicans that the president had rejected their offer at a deal on the debt ceiling and government shutdown.  In their report they either ignorantly or with absolute disregard for the truth reported that the debt ceiling must be raised by Thursday (a lie that Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has been spouting continually).  This, they seem to feel, puts pressure on Republicans to do something (in other words, give in to the president's demands).

Let's start by getting something straight that the mainstream media won't report.  Even Fox News, who sometimes gets things right, misses the boat on this one as they repeat the oft-touted line that if we don't raise the debt ceiling our government will go into default.  The media even jumped on board when, this past week, foreign governments like China seemingly warned the U. S. against possible default.  The media screamed it from the rooftops as though it was a real threat.  The fact is that, to use one of this administration's favorite terms, we're too big to fail.  They can't afford to let the U. S. fail and have backed themselves into a corner by lending us so much money.  They have to keep us afloat if they ever hope to get anything that they are owed.  We are still too strong militarily for them to try to foreclose, so they have to carry on at least until we have been weakened to the point of no longer being so powerful.  (By the way, does anyone wonder if Obama might have made a deal with the Chinese behind the scenes to squeal about this issue so the media would pick up the story?  After all, he was caught on a hot mic telling Russia's Medvedev to tell Putin he'd have more ability to reduce our nukes after his reelection.)

But the fact is that their supposed threats are unimportant.  We will not default and cannot default for some very simple reasons.  Not only do the best constitutional scholars see Article 14 of the Constitution as requiring us to pay our debts, but there is plenty of money to do so.  Our nation's revenue is around 60% - 70% of our expenses.  We bring in about $180 billion per month.  Our interest on the debt is about $25 billion per month.  That means there is plenty of money to pay lots of things, including the interest on the debt, which is just a small portion of our overall expenses.  Our debt would have to be far higher for us to be in a position where we literally could not afford to pay the interest due.  So default is just a scare tactic.

What would happen if we couldn't increase the debt ceiling would be a cessation of more borrowing.  We would have to cut expenses.  Anyone knows that if your income drops one-third it hurts.  You have to make hard decisions, but at least you still have two-thirds of your income and you still have money to pay the things that are of the highest priority.

The only way we would default would be if President Obama chose to default and there is ample legal basis to bring impeachment charges against him if he did.  It is agreed by many legal scholars that a president cannot choose to quit paying the interest on our debt.  Of course given his history of disregarding the Constitution, it is possible he would go ahead and not make the interest payments knowing that Congress would not hold him accountable, but then Congress would face the wrath of the voters because of the disaster.

People don't want to believe it, but the goal of the progressives, as I outlined in my book, No Tomorrows, is to overload our economic system to the point of collapse.  They do this by continually adding government programs, spending and increasing our debt.  Then people will no longer be able to afford to keep their homes warm in the winter (Notice their use of the EPA to wage war on energy sources like coal and oil so that prices are driven higher and higher?) and will have a hard time being able to afford to feed their families, those cold and hungry people will be willing to accept anything to make things better.  And at that point when our system collapses the progressives can replace our capitalist system with a progressive socialist system that would make Karl Marx proud.

So the arrogance of the president has caused him to reject the giveaway the Republicans have offered.  What now?

What Americans need to do is ring the phones off the hook in Washington and fill their email inboxes and their snail mailboxes with mail demanding that the Republicans stand strong and abandon what they've offered.  While the Republican leadership would say that they can't back away from what they've already offered, the fact is that they can.  I've been in business over 39 years and one of the key things any good negotiator learns is that an offer you put on the table is null and void when the other side either rejects it or makes a counter offer.

I remember years ago being in a negotiation with a company that wanted to buy from me.  They wanted a deal that was a money-loser and I countered with an offer that was very good, but not what they wanted.  Once I'd made the offer I wished I hadn't because I realized it would not be as good for my company as I had hoped when I thought it up.  They didn't like it and countered with another unacceptable offer.  I rejected their offer and countered with an offer that was more costly to them than the previous offer I'd made.  They were shocked.  They said I couldn't do that.  I told them I could because their counter-offer had made my offer null and void.  If they hadn't taken my offer when it was on the table it was their loss.  They challenged me and threatened legal action to make me honor it.  I told them to go ahead and go to court.  Their attorney's recommended they drop it because they knew I was right, but they insisted and the case was pursued.  Finally they got a lesson when the judge told them I was right, that their counter-offer cancelled out my previous offer and I had no obligation to honor it.  They ended up settling for the last offer I made, which was much better for my company (and still a good deal for them, even though they wanted better).

The Republicans can do the very same thing.  Now that Obama has rejected it they don't have to honor it.  They need to quit negotiating with themselves by continually coming up with new offers every time he rejects them.  They need to stop and say to Obama that they have made their offers and now the ball is in his court.  The Politico article I cited earlier implied that it was now the Republicans' responsibility to come back with yet again another offer for the President.  No, it's not.  They need to tell Obama that they will await an offer from him and then shut up and wait.

By continually returning with new offers the Republicans only weaken their position.  The president knows that if he waits long enough they will cave in (and most likely they will because they have a track record of failure in things like this).  They need to give him a taste of his own medicine.  Make him feel the heat.  And when the media try to blame them they need to expose the lies that the administration and Democrats in Congress continue to tell.  They need to grow a spine and take a stand.

And that's why it's up to us as voters to make it clear to them that if they don't get back to defunding Obamacare, instead of giving away everything, that we will vote them out of office.  We can and should replace them.  A recent poll says that 60% of Americans believe that every member of Congress should be replaced.  While there are a couple dozen, maybe even a few dozen worth keeping between both houses of Congress, even if we lost them we'd be better off because we would be rid of the 400-500 that are worthless and destroying our country.

This is our chance to make them feel the heat.  Obama has given us a short time to take advantage of the situation.  It will only take hours or a couple days when they reconvene Monday evening for them to get on track to giving even more away.  Don't let them do it!  Start calling and emailing immediately them immediately!

How Is Your Healthcare Like The NSA Surveillance Scandal?

Here's the Nonsense:  People are making too much of a big deal out of things like healthcare.  It's just part of life, so live with it.

Here's the Horse Sense:  We talk about loss of freedoms, invasion of privacy, and other issues while watching them slip away.  Take a close look and you'll decide it's time to take a stand.

Think you know all you need to about your healthcare?  If you thought you'd heard everything, this one may surprise you and even make you shudder.

When we learned of the NSA Surveillance scandal, where they are essentially spying on all Americans and we no longer have privacy as citizens, it caused an outrage.  But, like all the other scandals of this president, nothing really happened and most people have, by now, forgotten its importance.  The president and his minions are experts at smoke and mirrors and causing people to focus on something unrelated while missing the point of the main issue at hand.  Now we have yet another problem for Americans, but this one is hidden in healthcare rules to which Americans are subject.

This morning a local talk radio host posted on his website a copy of the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices that he obtained from a local physician's office.  (If you're a skeptic, you can confirm its legitimacy here at the HHS website.)  While we have all received notices of privacy from a variety of organizations, this one should make you stop and think.

Now let's face it.  Most people don't read this stuff.  Most just glance at it (at best) and move along with their lives.  The attitude is generally one of "It's all part of the system and I can't change it so I'm going to ignore it."  But that's dangerous, especially in these days of our ever-changing rights as Americans.

If you look at the notice, here are a some of the things you'll see that should make you stop and think:

The document says that  "Except for the following purposes, we will use and disclose Health Information only with your written permission."   In other words, they need your written permission, EXCEPT in these instances.  That should be an eye-opener because Americans aren't used to having someone freely share their personal information (especially their health information).

But let's keep looking.  It also says "We will disclose Health [Information] when required to do so by international, federal, state, or local law."  It's one thing to say they will disclose your health information when required to do so by federal, state, or local laws, but international law?  Since when does America allow any law outside of our nation to have any force within our sovereign country?  Could it be that they are opening this up to the UN and international law as part of their effort to make our nation under submission to and control of them?

And how about this one:  "We may release Health Information to authorized federal officials for intelligence, counter-intelligence, and other national security activities authorized by law."

And this one:  "We may disclose Health Information to authorize federal officials so they may provide protection to the President, other authorized persons or foreign heads of state, or to conduct special investigations."

And this one:  "Unless you object, we may disclose to a member of your family, a relative, a close friend or any other person you identify, your Protected Health Information that directly relates to that person’s involvement in your health care. If you are unable to agree or object to such a disclosure, we may disclose such information as necessary if we determine that it is in your best interest based on our professional judgment."  (Note in this last one that they can disclose information if, in their "professional judgment," they determine it's right to do so even though you object.

Now maybe this means nothing to you.  But it sure seems to be far from the America we grew up in.  Our privacy is being slowly eroded along with freedoms and rights.  Have you taken notice.  Are you working to get people elected to office that will stand up for your rights, privacy, and freedom?

Remember, our second president, John Adams, said, "A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.”

Our Petty And Small President

Here's the Nonsense:  The government shutdown is killing the country.  The Republicans are out of control and must be stopped.  We cannot afford to wait any longer.

Here's the Horse Sense:  The government shutdown is entirely the result of our childish president and his party.  To them this is about using the situation for political gain, not about what's good for America.  It's about time the Republicans take a stand.

President Obama's vindictive and spiteful attitude is on full display for the world to see.  America has gone from having elected officials who are great thinkers and leaders to having the worst example of an immature, childish fool who acts like the child on the playground throwing a tantrum and saying, "If you won't play my way, then I'm taking my toys and going home!"  There is nothing presidential about this president and the fact that that isn't being pointed out and reported by the media shows how they put their ideology ahead of their job as journalists to protect our society by reporting unvarnished truth.  Their blindness to his actions only proves their lack of objectivity.  And any American citizen that doesn't see what he is are themselves an example of why our country is in so much trouble.

The government shutdown is nothing but a joke.  We have a president and Democrat Party who refuse to negotiate at all on anything and they are blaming Republicans for the shutdown, just as they have for all the other problems we are having.  Yet they continually break the law by violating the constitution and ignoring laws they are required to keep.   This is not to say that the Republicans are without blame.  No one in Washington is willing to hold any of them accountable, especially the president.  The man continually thumbs his nose at our laws and no action is taken, even though our government is set up with a check and balance system that allows them to do so.

Sure, some would say that since the Republicans only control the House of Representatives they really can't do anything, but the fact is that they should do what is right regardless of the outcome.  If bringing action against this administration only goes as far as the House and the Senate does not follow through it doesn't matter.  It sends the message to the citizens so they can vote accordingly and make changes in their elected officials.  When the House impeached Bill Clinton the Senate didn't convict him, but it still sent a message to voters that Clinton had broken the law by committing perjury.  To any moral and ethical American that should have been enough for them to know how they'd vote in their Senatorial elections.

We have a president who is so spiteful and childish that he has chosen to have barricades put up at memorials to keep people out, even though those monuments are open all the time and have not been closed in the past, even during shutdowns.  Barricades were erected around the World War II memorial in Washington, keeping veterans from paying their respects and causing House Republicans to go there and personally move the barricades and walk the veterans through so they could be there.  But the barricades were re-erected and other things were closed that have caused problems all over the country.

The arrogance of this president is so great that it's reported that he even had Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington closed, even though it is privately owned.  Barricades were erected to block off parking areas that are owned by the federal government.  Since when does a parking lot need to be closed just  because a government agency is closed?  How often do people park in government lots on weekends when government offices are closed?  This is just a way for the president to make people feel pain that is unnecessary and foolish.

But if Mount Vernon isn't enough, the New York Post reports that he's had cemeteries closed around the world where our soldiers who fought and died are laid to rest.  Places like Normandy are closed to the public.  NBC reported that the City Tavern in Philadelphia, a place that has been in business since the American Revolution and was frequented by our founding fathers, has been closed even though it is privately owned.  Because it's in leased space in a federally owned building, the government has forced the closure of the private restaurant.

Bloomberg is reporting that Federal Aviation Administration safety inspectors are not working, grocery stores on our Army bases are closed, yet the golf course the president uses at Andrews Air Force Base is open.  The hypocrisy is mind-numbing.  Sadly, the closure of most of these things is unique as they have not been closed during past shutdowns.  But like the closing of White House tours was done "because of the sequestration," it is all a game to try to make a point when, in reality, it is just petty and vindictive.

While people may blame both sides, the fact that the left are resorting to name calling, which is their usual fallback position, shows that they have no substance to their arguments.  The old idea that if you're over the target you get the most flack holds true here.  The left (both politicians and mainstream media) say the Republicans are on a track that's doomed to fail.  If that were true, then they wouldn't be doing the things they are doing, they'd just let them fail.  If the Republicans weren't on the right path, the Democrats wouldn't be screaming so loudly.  And that's not to say that the Republicans are necessarily suggesting the best options, but at least they are making moves that would have some impact on helping our country.

There is no justifiable cause for these actions on the part of the left.  They are only proof of how out of control things are in Washington.  It's time for Americans to wake up and demand change in Washington.  It's time to reject these politicans who support these actions.
