The Horse Sense Blog compares the nonsense in today's news with good ol' fashioned horse sense

“…I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.… It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.” - Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775

"The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it." - George Orwell

If We Weren't Winning, They Wouldn't Be So Upset

Here's the Nonsense:  The Democrats, media, and even the establishment Republicans have pointed out that we conservatives are too extremist.  We need to back off and become more moderate or we will have no chance at survival.

Here's the Horse Sense:  When you're in a battle your opponent fights hardest when they know you are winning.  The Democrats, media, and establishment Republicans are fighting so hard because they know that they are in trouble.  Now is not the time to back down.

It's really easy to think the conservative movement has no chance to succeed. I often find myself thinking of how we're up against a monolithic force that is determined to crush us.  The establishment GOP has put the destruction of the conservative movement as their top priority, even above beating the Democrats.  But there's an old adage that when you're over the target you get the most flack.  And right now the conservatives are getting more flack than they ever have.  That means we're on target.  That means that the Democrats and establishment Republicans are feeling cornered and scared.  They know the American people support the values of the conservative movement more than they support the garbage that has gone on in Washington.  They realize they are in trouble and now they're fighting for their lives.  If we weren't winning, they wouldn't be so upset.

Remember that in the American Revolution only about 1/3 of Americans supported the revolutionaries.  The rest of the country was split between supporters of Britain and those who didn't care or take sides.  Yet as the revolutionaries, our Founding Fathers, fought on they slowly made progress and eventually won the war for our independence.

The biggest danger we have right now is pulling back or giving up.  The fight is going to get harder than ever now that they realize they are in trouble.  But we need to hold on tight and fight harder than ever.  The harder they fight the more we need to know we can win.  It's important not to give up when your opponent is on the ropes.

Sure, victory is still a long way off, but we are at a turning point in the battle.  The same was true when General George Washington faced the turning point of the Revolution at the battle of Saratoga.  Up to that point the Americans were struggling to survive.  But during September and October of 1777 two battles that made up the battle of Saratoga were the  crucial victory for the Patriots and is considered the turning point of the war. It was the impetus for France to enter the war against Britain, which reinvigorated Washington’s Continental Army and provided much needed supplies and support.  So significant was the battle that it is considered to be one of the 15 most decisive battles in world history.

Today the battle for America is just as crucial.  We are about to see our nation fall over the precipice that will send us into, as Ronald Reagan once warned, a millennia of darkness.  But we could make this a turning point if we make this our battle of Saratoga.

Not just Democrats, but establishment Republicans are reeling at the impact of conservative individuals and groups like the Tea Party and FreedomWorks.  Republicans like John McCain complain about the problem he faces with conservatives.  Karl Rove and his group are working diligently to defeat any and all conservatives who will run for office in the 2014 mid-term elections.  From Republican leadership in Congress to establishment Republicans around the country, they are working hard against us because they see conservatives as a threat.  They've even taken to using the term "conservative" when referring to themselves so that they can refer to us real conservatives as extremists.  They use this to vilify all of us American patriots who want to return our country to the constitutional republic that we were founded to be.

We might get disenchanted at times when we see the opposition.  But remember, that opposition is there only because conservatives are being effective.  If we succeed, they lose power and they will fight with everything they have to maintain their power and control.

Now is not the time to be timid.  It is not the time to back away.  It is time to stand and push forward.  Most American citizens agree with our values.  We must work to get all involved to take back our country and save it from disintegration.
