Here's the Nonsense: Great news! Eric Holder has resigned as Attorney General. That's one less problem we now have.
Here's the Horse Sense: The only thing worse than him staying as AG is the thought of where he could end up. We may be in for more trouble than we've had up until now.
When Eric Holder's resignation was announced this morning, many sighed relief hearing he's leaving his job as Attorney General. I have to admit I did, too.... for about 3 seconds. Then I wondered the more important question: Where will he end up after he leaves? That is the real question. And the answers could be far scarier than what we've seen with him as AG.
No one knows yet what will happen to him, but then I started thinking. Is he being readied for a run for the presidency in 2016? Or maybe as a vice presidential candidate? Possibly a senatorial run with aspirations to take Harry Reid's position when he retires? (No one has said Reid is retiring, but he's getting pretty old and we should expect he'll leave one of these days.)
Or maybe, and this is the worst thought I can think of, he could be appointed to the Supreme Court? Let's face it folks, Ginsburg is no spring chicken. She says she's sticking around because she fears what the Republicans might do, but no matter how determined she is, her age is a barrier. And it wouldn't be surprising if behind the scenes she were pushed to resign while Obama can still put in another staunch progressive to lock in that seat for another generation.
Where will Holder end up? Who knows. But as bad as he's been as AG, what we might face now could be far worse. We better have a Senate that will block any controversial nomination of him to key offices and also block other progressives like him from taking his old job as the AG. That's why the midterm elections in 6 weeks are so critical. Everyone needs to get involved and vote.
With the state of this nation as bad as it is, only heaven can help us. And I fear that given the way most Americans live, God isn't going to help. He certainly has no obligation to help us. It's time Americans take a long look in the mirror and decide if their immorality is worth losing their freedom.
The Horse Sense Blog compares the nonsense in today's news with good ol' fashioned horse sense
“…I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.… It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.” - Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775
"The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it." - George Orwell
