Here's the Nonsense: The establishment Republicans who control the GOP are doing the best they can. We need to support them and accept that they will do what's best for America.
Here's the Horse Sense: The establishment Republicans have virtually destroyed the GOP and are working in league with the Democrats to destroy America. It's up to us to force them to comply with voter's wishes.
The establishment GOP looks upon voters as easily duped, contemptible fools, at least that's the conclusion over at Rob Miller's Joshuapundit blog. And he's got good reason for that conclusion. He has posted some interesting comments about the defeat of Obamatrade last Friday. And while that may be the opinion of the establishment GOP about voters, the fact is that in many ways they may be right.
The Joshuapundit's comments about the defeat of Obamatrade say:
"The Republican Establishment can talk all it wants about how the TPA (the fast track authority given to the Obama Regime) needs to pass, that the ObamaTrade bill will be debated properly, and that this is all a good thing.
"Horse manure, the Republican Party is no longer to be trusted, no matter what they say."
He's right that the GOP should no longer be trusted. This is simply more proof of their disdain and disregard for the American people's opinions.
He angrily goes on to remind readers of the GOP's history of betrayal of voters saying:
"The Republican Establishment has betrayed its base at every turn. The RNC did nothing positive in 2010 to get a GOP majority in the House. That was Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint's doing..." Then he goes on to remind us how the GOP messed up 3 winnable Senate seats while running Palin and DeMint out of any meaningful place within the formal party apparatus.
We are also reminded how, even though the GOP now had a majority in the House, they fell for Obama and Reid's manipulation to do whatever the Democrats wanted, refusing to use their constitutional responsibility and authority of the power of the purse to hold them in check. He continues by reminding readers that they gave control of both houses of Congress to the Republicans in the 2014, only to be betrayed again when the GOP didn't stop amnesty, Obamacare, control of the FCC and internet, stopping the EPA, or even the radical judicial appointments.
The conclusion? "...they [the GOP establishment] lied to us at every turn and continue to lie to us. They lied willfully and knowingly, because to them, their real constituency are their corporate donors. They look upon us as easily duped, contemptible fools, as serfs made to serve them, the Ruling Class."
Near the end he writes about Boehner's plan to overcome the defeat in Friday's Obamatrade vote by planning another vote for this coming Tuesday. Of course that simply gives Obama and Boehner time to work Democrats and conservatives respectively to get enough votes to change the outcome from Friday's vote.
He concludes with an angry message to the GOP leadership:
"Watch how quickly you become today's Whigs and a new party forms unless you make serious, concrete amends. We will do it even if it means a venal creature like Hillary Clinton gets elected, because wile (sic) she doesn't represent us, neither do you...and while we expect her to lie to us at every turn, we trusted you. Oliver Cromwell's famous adjuration to Parliament comes to mind... "You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately... Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!'" And then he tops off the post saying that the GOP's actions amount to treason, appeasement and betrayal.
Joshuapundit is right about the establishment GOP being untrustworthy. They have continually lied and worked to destroy the conservative movement. Remember when both Mitch McConnell and John Boehner vowed to stop the conservatives and eliminate them?
But what's scary is that it's taken this long for a conservative blog like Joshuapundit to come to these conclusions. For years I've said that the GOP leadership could not be trusted and that the establishment controlled the party. I left the party myself in 1999 after they proved they would not uphold the law and find Bill Clinton guilty of perjury. By then it seemed obvious to me that they were worthless and I believed that conservatives needed to work hard to regain control of the party.
But that hasn't happened and I believe it's because people aren't informed and don't get involved. America's citizens are woefully uneducated about:
- their government
- how unique American liberty is and what it takes to keep it
- the corruption in Washington
- the importance of their involvement in the political process
Our children are no longer taught important civics lessons in school. They no longer learn the important aspects of American history. What they are taught is political correctness and are indoctrinated into seeing America as an evil, imperialist nation.
And the adults aren't paying attention to what's happening as our nation fizzles. Most people couldn't tell you about the day's news, let alone about Hillary Clinton's scandals, Obama's scandals, Boehner's continued strongarm tactics against conservative representatives in the House, etc.
Only about 22.1 million Americans get their news by watching NBC, CBS, and ABC news programs.
Fox News, CNN and MSNBC get about 4 - 4.5 million viewers (CNN and MSNBC combined take a little over a million of those viewers with the remaining going to Fox).
If you're generous and say that these broadcast networks and cable networks combined get 30 million viewers, that's still only about 9.3% of the U.S. population of 321 million.
Yes, many people get some news either from local sources or listening to drive time radio in their cars, but those are not in depth reports and those listeners aren't focused on the information to understand it. Plus, much of that news comes through ABC, CBS, and NBC.
A small number of people listen to talk radio to learn more about what's going on, but even the largest show, Rush Limbaugh, only has 20 million listeners per week (Note: that's per week, not per day. Divide by 5 and it's only 4 million per day, about 25% more than Fox News). And Rush's audience is far larger than his competition.
The point is that Americans don't know what's going on in our country and instead have fallen into lives of narcissism and immorality. Our founders understood this danger.
George Washington wrote a letter to his brother, John Augustine Washington on June 15, 1783 saying, "Liberty, when it degenerates into licentiousness, begets confusion, and frequently ends in Tyranny or some woeful catastrophe."
Our 2nd president, John Adams, spoke about these dangers often. Here are just of his 3 quotes:
- "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
- "Almost all mankind have lost their liberties through ignorance, inattention, and disunion"
- "When a people is corrupted, the press may be made an engine to complete their ruin: and now it is notorious that the ministry are daily employing it to increase and establish corruption, and to pluck up virtue by the roots."
James Madison reinforced the fact that we must be diligent at all times when he warned that freedoms are incrementally lost. He said: "I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedoms of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."
And it wasn't just the founders who understood these things. In early America it was known that these were dangers that threatened whether we could retain our freedoms. During his Farewell Address on March 4, 1837, Andrew Jackson said, "But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as in the Federal Government."
And just 3 months later, on June 1, 1837, Daniel Webster said, "...There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow.... Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing."
At the end of his post, Joshuapundit blog said that if the GOP didn't finally listen to the voters it was time to form a 3rd party and send the GOP into history like the Whig Party of old.
On that point I disagree.
I disagree because I don't believe we have time to form a 3rd Party and build it to enough strength to save America. A new party would take many election cycles to gain enough support to win national elections. We are quickly losing our freedoms. The self-proclaimed ruling class in the Democrat and Republican parties are working to take even more of our liberty. If we don't stop this with a major change in the 2016 elections, I believe we will not get another chance to vote for change that is needed.
We have to be involved and educate those around us about what's going on. Samuel Adams said, "It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds."
But Americans are too proud to admit their sin. They see life as a buffet of personal pleasure. They will not serve God, but only serve themselves.
Can we still stop the madness and save America?
In II Chronicles 7:14 God said, "if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land."
If we listen and obey what God has told us, America can be saved. If we don't, we are doomed to the ash heap of history.
